Men's Basketball to play for NAC North Division title on Tuesday

MEQUON, Wis. – A fourth-consecutive Northern Athletics Conference North Division title is within reach for Concordia University Wisconsin's men's basketball team on Tuesday. The Falcons travel to Maranatha Baptist Bible College for a 7 p.m. contest.

With a victory and a Lakeland College loss against Marian University, the Falcons would earn a tie for first place and claim another regular season title, and possibly host a game in the first round of the NAC Tournament. It would be the fourth title since head coach Shawn Cassidy took over the reins six years ago.

CUW (16-8, 11-4 NAC) has won eight of its last 10 games, including six in a row. In conference play this season the Falcons are outscoring their opponents by a 70.5 to 64.1 margin. Senior Mark Pace (Milwaukee, Wis.) leads the team in scoring this season with a 13.7 points per game, while seniors Steve Zielinski (Brown Deer, Wis.) and Brian Jackson (Carol Stream, Ill.) are averaging 10.5 and 10.0 points per game, respectively.

Joel Borchardt is second in the NAC with an 18.0 points per game average and has seven times scored over 20 points in a contest. Brett Cashner is also scoring in double-figures with 13.3 per game. The Crusaders enter with a 1-14 NAC record and a 5-18 overall mark.
