MSOE defeats CUW men via the charity stripe

MILWAUKEE, Wis.-  The Concordia Wisconsin men's basketball team dropped Wednesday evening's Northern Athletics Conference game, 71-63, as host MSOE went to the charity stripe 37 times, connecting on 30, in the process of upending the Falcons.

Concordia led 31-30 at the break but had three players in foul trouble and was unable to put any semblance of a starting lineup on the court for the remainder of the game.

Still, CUW managed to take a 54-48 with eight minutes left before MSOE began their game-changing charge.

The Raiders held Concordia scoreless over the next three minutes to pull even and then broke the game's final tie (59-59) on Austin Stueck's jumper with 2:40 remaining.

From that point on the hosts were 10-12 from the free throw line to pull away to victory.

MSOE outshot CUW 43% to 36% for the game with the frigid Falcons hitting just five of 20 outside attempts.  Senior Mark Pace (Milwaukee, Wis.)  led Concordia with 17 points but CUW's only other double figure scorer was senior Bryan Donaldson with 11.

Jeremiah Erdmann led MSOE with 16 points including 10 of 12 free throw shooting.

The Falcons outrebounded the Raiders 40-36 but were credited with just four assists for the evening.

Shawn Cassidy's team fell to 15-8 overall and dropped to a game behind Lakeland in the NAC North title chase.  CUW now has a 10-4 conference mark with two games remaining.   MSOE improved to 15-8 overall and 9-5 in the NAC North.

CUW travels to Wisconsin Lutheran on Saturday with game time scheduled for 3:15pm.
