Aurora hands CUW men an 89-78 defeat

AURORA, Ill.- Host Aurora, 6-0 in the NAC South, used superior quickness to run past Concordia Wisconsin 89-78 Saturday afternoon, dropping the Falcons to 8-6 overall and 5-2 in NAC North play.

The speedy Spartans grabbed a 38-30 halftime lead and never looked back  Marious Lobdell cut through the Falcon defense for 18 points, including 10 of 14 from the charity stripe.  He was one of three Spartans who finished in double figures.  Aurora shot 40% for the game compared to 35% for the Falcons.  Their 89 point accumulation was the most allowed by CUW this season.

Senior Brian Jackson (Carol Stream, Ill.) led the Falcons with his best offensive performance of the season (21 points) while Mark Pace (Sr./ Milwaukee, Wis.) and Steve Zielinski (Sr./ Brown Deer, Wis.) added 17 and 16 respectively. 

Concordia actually outrebounded the hosts 55-48, but turnovers killed CUW as the Falcons gave the ball up 20 times compared to the eight errors committed by AU.

The game was dominated by the officials' whistles that sent Aurora to the free throw line 35 times while CUW had 32 charity stripe opportunities.

Shawn Cassidy's cagers host Marian Tuesday at 7:00pm. It will be only the fourth home game of the season for the road-weary Falcons.
