Falcon men transition past Maranatha after halftime

MEQUON, Wis.-  Concordia Wisconsin (3-3/ 2-1 NAC) came back from a two point halftime deficit to power past determined Maranatha 67-49 (2-6/ 0-3) in the Buuck Fieldhouse Saturday afternoon.

The underdog Crusaders led by as many as 12 points in the first half before settling for a 30-28 margin at the break.

A much deeper CUW squad transitioned the visitors into submission after halftime, hitting 18 of 40 second half shots while the Crusaders were just seven of 31 as Concordia players stepped up their defensive pressure.

Four Falcons (Steven Brodie, Steve Zielinski, Mark Pace, and Casey Kegley) had three baskets each after halftime and 11 of the 18 CUW second half field goals were the results of excellent inside assists.

Zielinski (Sr./ Brown Deer, Wis.) and Malcolm Bowers (So./ Germantown, Wis.) owned the glass after the break, pulling down 12 rebounds between them.  Brodie and Bowers each had three of Concordia's 12 steals.

CUW shot 40% for the game, but just 22% from long range (4-18).  Zielinski led a balanaced scoring attack with 14 points while Brodie finished with 13.  Bowers and Kegley both finished with nine.

Joel Borchardt led MBBC with 13 and Tanner Moses tallied 11. 

Cassidy's Falcons are off until December 19th when they travel to the Daytona Beach Shootout.
