Late Goal Lifts Field Hockey at Sewanee

SEWANEE, Tenn. – The Concordia Wisconsin field hockey team returned to the win column on Sunday afternoon. The Falcons scored in the final minute to secure a 2-1 victory at Sewanee.

The Falcons peppered the Sewanee cage with six shots in the first quarter. Sophomore Katelyn Cardinale (Mount Laurel, N.J.) scored in the sixth minute on a scrum in front of the net with senior Alex Klamm (Glen Carbon, Ill.).

The Tigers tied the game in the 24th minute.

In the final minute of play, sophomore Katie Quirke (Antioch, Ill.) found the back of the cage with a shot off a rebound to give the Falcons the victory.

The Falcons held a 9-7 advantage in shots on Sunday. Katelyn Cardinale and Katie Quirke finished with two shots.

Freshman Parks Cawthray (Oakville, Ont.) finished the afternoon with three saves.

The Falcons continue SAA action on Saturday at Marian.
