Field Hockey hooks Gators in shutout victory

MEADVILLE, Pa. – The CUW field hockey team finished a perfect weekend with a 5-0 shutout victory at Alleghany. The Falcons did not allow a goal on the weekend and improved to 4-6 on the year.

"Today we had another solid team victory on the road," said head coach Sam Schoessow. "We have been consistently improving, so it's been great to finally get some wins on the road."

Junior Callie Neumann (Dousman, Wis.) opened the scoring in the 10th minute off a pass from senior Sam Dunn (Hartland, Wis.).

Sam Dunn then scored 10 minutes later.

In the 29th minute, senior Rachel Larson (St. Louis, Mo.) found the back of the net off a pass from freshman Lorri Pitock (Naperville, Ill.).

Freshman Donna Pitock (Naperville, Ill.) opened the second-half scoring in the 34th minute.

Sophomore Megan McPike (Mequon, Wis.) closed the scoring in the 56th minute.

Sophomore Katelyn Fitzgerald (Wood River, Ill.) earned her third victory of the year with two saves.

Freshman Emily Binley (Suffolk, Va.) picked up five saves on Sunday.

The Falcons held an 18-11 advantage in shots on Sunday.

Megan McPike led CUW with seven shots.

The Falcons return to action on Oct. 19 at Rhodes.
