Field Hockey overwhelms Ohio Wesleyan

DELAWARE, Ohio – The CUW field hockey team picked up a quality road victory on Saturday morning at Ohio Wesleyan. The Falcons beat the Battling Bishops 2-1, to improve to 2-1 on the year.

"It was a great team win against a strong team," said head coach Samantha Landis-Schoessow. "We plan to continue building from here."

Junior Callie Neumann (Dousman, Wis.) put the falcons on the scoreboard 2:09 into the game with a shot from the right wing that found the back of the net.

OWU tied the game in the 34th minute, when a Battling Bishop found the loose ball in front of the net.

Sophomore Megan McPike (Mequon, Wis.) opened the fourth quarter with a goal to break the tie in the 48th minute. McPike ran it into the circle from the right side.

Sophomore Katelyn Fitzgerald (Wood River, Ill.) posted six saves for the Falcons.

OWU outshot the Falcons on Saturday, 14-8.

The Falcons return to action on Friday in Wisconsin against Christopher Newport.
