Field Hockey overwhelms Ohio Wesleyan

DELAWARE, Ohio – The CUW field hockey team picked up a quality road victory on Saturday morning at Ohio Wesleyan. The Falcons beat the Battling Bishops 2-1, to improve to 2-1 on the year.

"It was a great team win against a strong team," said head coach Samantha Landis-Schoessow. "We plan to continue building from here."

Junior Callie Neumann (Dousman, Wis.) put the falcons on the scoreboard 2:09 into the game with a shot from the right wing that found the back of the net.

OWU tied the game in the 34^th minute, when a Battling Bishop found the loose ball in front of the net.

Sophomore Megan McPike (Mequon, Wis.) opened the fourth quarter with a goal to break the tie in the 48^th minute. McPike ran it into the circle from the right side.

Sophomore Katelyn Fitzgerald (Wood River, Ill.) posted six saves for the Falcons.

OWU outshot the Falcons on Saturday, 14-8.

The Falcons return to action on Friday in Wisconsin against Christopher Newport.
