Field Hockey quiets the Quakers

MEQUON, Wis. – The CUW field hockey team earned revenge against Earlham on Sunday with a 4-2 victory. The Falcons bounced back from the season-opening 2-1 loss to Earlham on Saturday.

"I am excited with how we played today," said head coach Samantha Landis-Schoessow. "We took some big steps forward as a team from Saturday and I am excited to grow even more."

Senior Sam Dunn (Hartland, Wis.) opened the scoring off a pass from senior Kelsey Fulton (Hartland, Wis.).

The senior duo struck again six minutes later for Dunn's second goal as she tapped it in with on hand.

The Quakers came out of halftime firing on all cylinders and tied the game with two goals in the first five minutes of the third quarter.

The sister act stopped the skid as freshmen Donna Pitock (Naperville, Ill.) found the back of the net off a pass from freshman Lorri Pitock (Naperville, Ill.).

Sam Dunn closed the scoring with a penalty stroke that flew past the keeper for the hat trick.

Freshman Emily Binley (Suffolk, Va.) closed the game making some key saves in her first collegiate start to earn the victory. She finished the day with nine saves. Junior Callie Neumann (Dousmann, Wis.) also recorded a defensive save after keep the ball from rolling in.

Both teams finished the day with 16 shots.

CUW heads to Ohio on Saturday to face the Battling Bishops of Ohio Wesleyan.
