McPike ties season goal, point marks; Field Hockey falls at Centre

DANVILLE, Ky. – Megan McPike scored two more goals on Sunday but the Concordia University Wisconsin Field Hockey team could not slow down Centre in a 9-2 setback. McPike's two goals gave her 10 for the season and 22 points, both numbers tying Falcons single-season records.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Colonels came out rolling, scoring three times in the first eight minutes and adding a fourth goal in the 17th minute.

- McPike scored both of her goals in the first half as the Falcons trailed 5-2 before the break. Her second goal came as time expired in the opening half.

- Savannah Elpers posted a hat trick for Centre while Sarah Biggs and Caroline Brotzge each tallied two scores.

- The Falcons were outshot 26-3 in the contest. Katelyn Fitzgerald (Wood River, Ill.) made 11 saves for CUW.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- McPike's 10 goals and 22 points tie Kelsey Fulton who finished the 2017 season with identical numbers. The Falcons still have seven games remaining on the regular season schedule this season.

- CUW continues its season on the road next weekend with two more games, both at Christopher Newport. The Falcons will play Christopher Newport Saturday at 11 a.m. eastern before taking on Randolph Macon Sunday at 11:30.
