Field Hockey blanked by Sewanee in SAA road tilt

SEWANEE, Tenn. – The Concordia University Wisconsin Field Hockey took another long road trip for a Southern Athletic Association matchup Saturday in a visit to Sewanee. The Falcons offense couldn't get much going as they were blanked by the Tigers, 3-0.

THE BASICS

- Records: Sewanee 6-3, 2-0 SAA; CUW 3-6, 0-4 SAA

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Tigers struck just 4:27 into play, putting the Falcons in an early deficit. Hanna Tompkins scored the Sewanee goal, the lone score of the opening half. Ceara Caffrey assisted on the Tompkins goal.

- Sewanee would add two scores in the second half, adding some insurance in the SAA tilt. Caffrey tallied her 10th goal of the season in the 46th minute, while Katie Wilson, who assisted on Caffrey's score, capped off the scoring in the 55th minute.

- Kennedy Boyer (Saline, Mich.) posted a 10-save effort for the Falcons, keeping them within striking distance for much of the game. CUW totaled just 14 shots to the Tigers 30 and had six shots on goal, four stopped by Katya Waters. Sewanne also got a pair of defensive saves, one from Madison McAdams and another by Nikki Ereli.

- The Falcons did have some opportunities on Saturday with six penalty corners. Rachel Larson (Fenton, Mo.) tallied a team-best five shots for CUW, four of those on goal. Kelsey Fulton (Sussex, Wis.) added four shots, two on goal.

UP NEXT
- The Falcons will stay in Sewanee for a neutral site SAA matchup tomorrow against Transylvania. CUW and Transylvania will be at it early Sunday morning with a 9:30 a.m. start.
