Falcons, Centre hosted Field Hockey Clinic Saturday

MEQUON, Wis. – On Saturday, the Concordia University Wisconsin Field Hockey team battled Centre. After the two teams faced each other on the field, they joined together to help teach the game of field hockey to local youth players.

The Falcons and Colonels ran a Field Hockey Clinic on Saturday for kids ages K-12. The clinic ran for a couple of hours and allowed the youth in the area to better learn the growing sport. The camp featured both boys and girls.

""We appreciated all of the support from the local club, youth, and high school programs and loved seeing their participation in our clinic," said head coach Samantha Landis.  "We also had a number of new players and boys participate."

The goal of the clinic was to promote the sport in a non-traditional field hockey area. The Falcons are the only team in the state of Wisconsin, as field hockey has primarily been an east coast sport.

"Centre and CUW both have field hockey programs in non-traditional areas of the country, so it was great to be able to join forces and promote our sport in Wisconsin," stated Landis. "It was a unique opportunity for all of our players to step into the coaching role and show the young athletes how to do their part in growing the game."
