Honors Roll in For Logan Navis After Record-Breaking Week
MEQUON, Wis. – When one has a record-breaking performance to retain the Cheese Bowl, the honors will roll in. Sophomore Logan Navis was honored by the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) and D3football.com on Tuesday morning for his performance against Lakeland.
A sophomore kicker from Cedar Grove, Wisconsin, Logan Navis is claiming his first honor from the NACC and from D3Football.com. Navis was named the Student-Athlete of the Week for Special Teams by the athletic communications professionals in the NACC and voted on the D3football.com National Team of the Week.
Against Lakeland, Navis connected on three field goals and was a perfect four-for-four in point after attempts.
In the first quarter, he extended the lead to 10-0 with a 42-yard field goal.
He tied the game at 34 with a 25-yard field goal with 4:07 remaining in the game.
The sophomore from Cedar Grove then won the game with a walk-off 54-yard field goal to win the game at 37-34 and gave the Falcons a three-game winning streak in the Cheese Bowl rivalry game.
The 54-yard field goal broke the Concordia Wisconsin and Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference record that Dan Winsey held after connecting on a 51-yard kick on Oct. 16, 2010 against Benedictine. Tony Licavoli also had a 51-yard field goal against Lakeland on Sept. 26, 1998.
This is the third time this season that a Falcon was voted as the Student-Athlete of the Week for Special Teams. Senior Gio Nowotarski nabbed the title on Sept. 15 and Luke Droegemueller did so on Oct. 6.
The last time a Falcon was named to the D3football.com National Team of the Week was on Nov. 14, 2023, when Justice Kaneta was honored for his performance against No. 10 Aurora. In total, Navis is the seventh Falcon to claim the honor, joining Austin Damaschke in 2013, Eric Hamilton twice in 1999, Justice Kaneta and Marquiton Sellers in 2023, Cedric Simmons twice in 2002, and Mike Steinmetz in 2006.
Navis and the Falcons close out the home portion of the schedule on Saturday with a noon kickoff against Concordia Chicago.
