MEQUON, Wis. – The preseason favorite in the UMAC was no match for the Falcons in the season opener on Saturday afternoon. The Falcons protected home field to remain unbeaten at Tomasini Stadium in the 2021 calendar year. The Falcons opened the 2021 campaign with a 28-21 victory over Martin Luther.

The Knights struck first on Saturday with a pair of touchdowns to take a 14-0 lead.

The first CUW points of the year came on a one-yard rush from senior James Linn (Chino Hills, Calif.) to find the end zone.

The Falcons tied the game before halftime with a 13-yard touchdown catch from junior Christian Booker (Chicago, Ill.) from Linn.

The Blue and White took the lead with touchdown catches from sophomore Samuel Campbell Jr. (Milwaukee, Wis.) and senior Tim Houlihan (Lockport, Ill.) in the third quarter.

The CUW defense was suffocating in the second half and came up with three interceptions on the day, with junior Eli Wallace (Davenport, Iowa) snagging two and senior Josiah McDermit (Kansasville, Wis.) coming down with a catch.

Junior Dalton Lardnois (Green Bay, Wis.) also came up with a fumble recovery in the victory.

Freshman Andre Casas (Oswego, Ill.) was a perfect four-for-four in extra-point attempts on Saturday.

Senior Matt Montgomery (Hillsboro, Texas) led the ground game with 97 yards on Saturday.

James Linn finished with 173 yards on 15 completions and three touchdowns.

The Falcons return home on Saturday for a game against Judson.
