Football secures season finale victory

MILWAUKEE, Wis. -- Concordia Wisconsin held on for a season-ending 28-21 victory over Wisconsin Lutheran in the annual Lutheran Bowl game. Gabe Christenson intercepted a pass with two minutes remaining to secure the Falcons victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After trailing 14-7, the Falcons scored three-consecutive times to go-ahead 28-14 with 30 seconds to play in the third quarter. The scoring run started when sophomore James Linn (Chino Hills, Calif.) found senior Isaiah Tenette (Sacramento, Calif.) for a 6-yard score just before halftime. Linn then connected with sophomore Tanner Hill (Phoenix, Ariz.) for a 16-yard pass-and-catch touchdown and the final score of the three in a row was a sophomore Josiah McDermit (Kansasville, Wis.) 47-yard interception return to pay dirt.
- Concordia Wisconsin's defense picked off three passes within the last four Wisconsin Lutheran possessions.
- Junior Matt Montgomery (Hillsboro, Texas) scored the game's opening touchdown with a seven-yard run with 2:16 to play in the first quarter.
- Linn completed 19-of-28 passes for 221 yards and two touchdowns. Hill hauled in seven passes for 126 yards and a score.
- Junior Connor Stoming (Germantown, Wis.) and sophomore Devin Shibilski (Union Grove, Wis.) led the Falcons with eight tackles each, while Shibilski intercepted a pass. Sophomore Caleb Young (Glenview, Ill.) forced and recovered a fumble in the first quarter.
- Wisconsin Lutheran was led by Nick Yockey who threw for 195 yards and three touchdowns, but had three interceptions. Mykael Ignaszak and Jade Burge each had 12 tackles for the Warriors.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Falcons ended the season with three victories over their last four games, scoring 103 points in those three wins.
- Concordia Wisconsin's defense allowed just 168.8 pass yards per game and intercepted 17 passes this season.
