Muskies take Cheese Bowl over Falcons

MEQUON, Wis. – Lakeland scored early and often against Concordia Wisconsin, en route to a 60-14 victory in the annual Cheese Bowl game on Saturday afternoon.

THE BASICS

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Muskies scored three touchdowns in the opening quarter, added two more before halftime and tacked on another pair of scores to go ahead 46-0 with just over six minutes to play in the third quarter.
- Concordia Wisconsin found pay dirt for the first time when freshman quarterback Dalton Poole (Kewaskum, Wis.) connected with junior Ryan Wagner (Mukwonago, Wis.) for a beautiful 52-yard score on the ensuring possession.
- Freshman Bryan Gudka (Keenesburg, Colo.) found freshman D'Anthony Lee (Milwaukee, Wis.) for a 3-yard pass-and-catch touchdown with just over two minutes to play in the contest after Lakeland scored two more times.
- Freshman Josh Turner (Palatine, Ill.) paced the Falcons offense with 87 net rushing yards on 17 carries (5.1 average), while Poole threw for 102 yards.
- Wagner ended with 75 receiving yards on three catches.
- Junior Jacob Mason (Slinger, Wis.) punted five times, averaging 41.0 per kick and had one inside the 20-yard line.
- Senior Albert Goerlitz (Withee, Wis.) had a game-high 13 tackles (eight solo) and three pass breakups, while junior Jon Rauh (Slinger, Wis.) recorded 10 tackles (five solo). Freshman Marquis Thorn (Atlanta, Ga.) made nine tackles (seven solo) and picked off his first career pass in last in the first quarter.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Lakeland scored nine touchdowns and was 6-of-7 in the red zone. The Muskies ended with 704 total offensive yards on 93 plays (7.6 average).
- Concordia Wisconsin was whistled for seven infractions totaling 51 yards, while Lakeland has 12 penalties for 129 yards.

THE OPPOSITION
- Eldrada Meeks ran for 220 yards on 21 carries (10.5 average) and a touchdown, while Michael Whitley was 36-of-47 for 279 yards and four touchdowns.
- Jody Harrison hauled in 10 passes for 94 yards and a score. Allante Gardner recorded eight catches for 53 yards and two touchdowns.
- Deonte Rowell hauled in two interceptions, forced and recovered a fumble. Diante Moses made 10 tackles (five solo), while McNemon Vincent had two sacks.
