Sam Beers Secures All-American Honors
MEQUON, Wis. – Sam Beers claimed All-American honors this week from the American Baseball Coaches Association and D3Baseball.com. On Thursday, the ABCA announced Beers to the ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division III All-American First Team at third base. On Wednesday, d3baseball.com placed him on the third team.
"This is a dream come true," said Sam Beers. "I would like to thank my lord and savior, Jesus Christ for making this all possible. I'd like to thank my mom and dad for supporting my passions and working so hard to give me the opportunity to pursue them. I'd like to thank my teammates for their support and belief in me. I'd also like to thank my coaches Eddy Morgan and Val Keiper for developing me as a ballplayer and a man. Lastly, I'd like to thank my mentor and best friend Jack Schiestle for helping guide me so much."
A junior from Janesville, Wisconsin, Sam Beers is being honored as an All-American for the first time in his career.
Beers posted an outstanding season at the plate this year and boasted the 27th-best batting average in NCAA Division III at .442. He also smacked 69 hits on the season, which is the 14th best mark in NCAA Division III.
He was also 31st in total bases in 2021 with 110. He notched 14 doubles, seven home runs and three triples. Beers also stole six bases on the year. The junior played a key role in the Concordia offense and scored 41 runs and had 46 runs batted in.
Besides the two All-American honors, this year, Beers was named an ABCA All-Region First Team selection, a D3Baseball.com All-Midwest Region First Team honoree, the NACC North Division Co-Position Player of the Year, an All-NACC North Division Team honoree and a three-time NACC North Division Position Player of the Week selection.
"This is an incredibly well-deserved honor," said head coach Eddy Morgan. "We worked on improving every aspect of his game and it showed. He has an incredible work ethic and it showed this year. He is one of our captains and he helps lead us on and off the field and we are all incredibly proud of Sam and everything that he has accomplished."
Beers is the second All-American in program history. Bryan Thomas was named to the ABCA All-American Second Team in 2017.
