Baseball splits doubleheader with Lakeland

PLYMOUTH, Wis. – The Falcons recovered from a 6-2 loss to the Muskies to defeat them 6-2 in game two as Concordia Wisconsin and Lakeland split a conference doubleheader on Saturday afternoon.

THE BASICS
-Final Score: LU 6, CUW 2 | CUW 6, LU 2
-Records: CUW 11-15 (7-7 NACC), LU 5-20 (5-9 NACC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
-In the opening game, Tyler Haffey (Mount Prospect, Ill.) drove in both Falcon runs in the top of the first inning on an RBI double.
-Lakeland scored one in the bottom of the first, but the Falcon held a lead until the fifth inning.
-In the fifth, an unfortunate sequence of errors helped the Muskies score four to take the definitive lead in the game.
-Jack Banks led the Muskies with two runs scored with two hits and a walk.
-Game two saw the Falcons flip the script and take a 6-2 win over the Muskies.
-Alex Prickett (Franklin, Wis.) threw seven shutout innings before one of his runners scored in the eighth. The junior struck out five in the win.
-At the plate, the Falcons once again struck with a pair of runs in the top of the first. Jared Chesak (West Bend, Wis.) had an RBI single to drive in the first run, after which Charlie Rodriguez (Tinley Park, Ill.) drew a bases-loaded walk.
-In the sixth, the Falcons took advantage of a wild pitch and a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch to get two more runs on the board.
-In the ninth, Christian Gerner (Mequon, Wis.) drove in a pair of insurance runs with a single through the right side.
-Chesak (West Bend, Wis.) led the Falcons at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored.
-The Falcons responded well in the field from their six-error first game by committing none in the second game.
