Baseball takes down Carleton in Arizona finale

TUSCON, Ariz. – The Falcons ended their spring trip to Arizona with a win over the Knights as Concordia Wisconsin defeated Carleton 7-4 on Sunday.

THE BASICS
-Final Score: Concordia Wisconsin 7, Carleton 4
-Records: Concordia Wisconsin 4-8, Carleton 0-4

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Falcons scored first in the bottom of the first as Sean Tillmon (Plainfield, Ill.) drove in Johannes Haakenson (Janesville, Wis.) to give CUW a 1-0 lead.
-The bats came alive in the fifth inning as both teams put up crooked numbers. The Knights hung four on the board in the top of the frame, but the Falcons answered with five of their own in the next half of the inning.
-In that five-run fifth, Haakenson singled in Charlie Rodriguez (Tinley Park, Ill.) to start. Tillmon then tripled, driving in Haakenson from first. Austen Dart (Algoma, Wis.) followed with a single to drive in Tillmon. After Dart advanced to second on a wild pitch, he scored on a Tyler Haffey (Mount Prospect, Ill.) single. A wild pitch and walk later, Sam Beers singled to center to drive in Haffey for the fifth run of the inning.
-Haakenson drove in the final CUW run in the eighth with a double. Hitting lead-off, the freshman finished the day 3-for-4 with a double, a triple, two RBI, two runs scored, and a walk.
-Joseph Zywiciel (Bolingbrook, Ill.) received the win, with Beau Wills (Coal City, Ill.) notching the save.

UP NEXT
-The Falcons return to the Midwest for an away doubleheader at Aurora on Saturday, March 30, starting at 12pm.
