Baseball’s rally falls short in loss to Macalester

TUSCON, Ariz. – The Falcons scored three runs late in the game to get within one, but Concordia Wisconsin lost 7-6 to Macalester on Friday. 

THE BASICS
-Final Score: Macalester 7, Concordia Wisconsin 6
-Records: Concordia Wisconsin 3-6, Macalester 4-4

HOW IT HAPPENED

-The Scots struck early with a three-run first inning.
-The Falcons responded with a two-run top of the second. Spencer Garnett (Clarendon Hills, Ill.) drove in a run on a groundout, after which Sam Beers (Janesville, Wis.) scored on a wild pitch.
-Macalester got another run in the second inning, but Austen Dart (Algoma, Wis.) matched it with an RBI single to left in the third.
-The Scots had an RBI double in both the fifth and sixth innings and added a third run in the sixth on an error to take a 7-3 lead.
-Down by four, CUW started a rally. Dart and Tristan Largent (Verona, Wis.) each drove in a run in the seventh to cut the Scots' lead in half.
-Zack Swift (Longwood, Fla.) doubled in a run in the eighth to pull the Falcons within one.
-Unfortunately, the Falcons went down 1-2-3 in the ninth to cut the rally short.
