Baseball falls to St. John’s in doubleheader

TUSCON, Ariz. – The Falcons hit well in the first game and pitched better in the second, but Concordia Wisconsin was defeated in both games of a doubleheader with St. John's by scores of 13-8 and 4-0. 

THE BASICS
-Final Score: St. John's 13, Concordia Wisconsin 8 | St. John's 4, Concordia Wisconsin 0
-Records: St. John's 10-1, Concordia Wisconsin 0-4

HOW IT HAPPENED
-In the opening game of the doubleheader, 13 of the 21 total runs were scored in the sixth inning. The Johnnies scored eight in the top half, with the Falcons answering with five of their own in the bottom of the frame.
-Eric Paz (Kenosha, Wis.) had a double and a triple with two runs scored for the Falcons.
-Charlie Rodriguez (Tinley Park, Ill.), Austin Dart (Algoma, Wis.), and Tristen Largent (Verona, Wis.) each had two RBI in the game to lead the team.
-In the second game, the Falcons performed better on the mound. Matthew Olig (Plymouth, Wis.) held the high-powered Johnnies offense to four runs in six innings of work, with only two allowed in the final five innings.
-Unfortunately for the Falcons, the Johnnies' starter Jake Dickmeyer had a strong game, throwing a seven-inning shutout while allowing only three hits and striking out eight.
