MSOE outslugs Baseball in opening game of NACC Tournament

MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia University Wisconsin Baseball team dropped the opening game of the 2018 NACC Baseball Tournament Thursday, falling 14-7 against MSOE. The Falcons, who are the sixth seed in the league tournament, will play an elimination game tomorrow at 10 a.m. against either Benedictine or Aurora.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Falcons fell behind 9-0 after three innings of play as MSOE scored six times in the second and added three in the third. Jimmy Carrington, who led MSOE with five hits, hit a two-RBI single in the second inning and came around to score on the same play as an error in left field allowed the bases to clear for the big play of the inning.

- Nick Gross added three hits, including a home run and three RBI for the Raiders and Garrett Willems also drove in three. The two teams combined for 32 hits, the Falcons finishing with 15 in the contest compared to 17 for MSOE.

- Nathan Thyssen (Kimberly, Wis.), Matt Luft (Mesa, Ariz.), Justin Barney (Kenosha, Wis.), and Michael Szeszol (Lake Bluff, Ill.) each collected three hits for the Falcons. All 15 of the Falcons hits were singles in the setback.

- Bradlee Sumner (Ocala, Fla.) took the loss for CUW, throwing two innings. The Falcons used four pitchers in the contest, including Seth Cox (Gilbert, Ariz.), Eric Dubek (Lockport, Ill.), and Michael Enriquez (Chicago, Ill.)

- Caleb Willert earned his sixth win of the year for the Raiders, working six innings. Sam Crawford threw the final three frames for the save.
