Baseball comes up short against St. Norbert

Box Score: SNC 11, CUW 1

De PERE, Wis.
- Despite coming into the game having won three of their previous four games, the Concordia University Wisconsin baseball team suffered an 11-1 defeat against St. Norbert College on Wednesday afternoon at Mel Nicks Field, leaving the teams with a split in their home-home series.

CUW (11-13) only trailed 2-1 after two innings of play, but a seven-run third inning for the Green Knights led to a lopsided loss for the Falcons.

The Falcons scored their lone run in the second, when sophomore Mathew Scasny (Pewaukee, Wis.) scored from second on a fielding error by the Green Knights.

On the mound, Falcon pitching was roughed up throughout the afternoon, but freshman Matthew Brueser (Oconomowoc, Wis.) pitched 1.1 innings of solid relief while allowing no runs and striking out a pair.

St. Norbert (11-10) got six strong innings from starter Nathan Schadrie, who allowed only one unearned run on two hits.

Matt Hannon and Jose Godinez led the way at the plate for the Green Knights, as they combined to go 5 for 8 with six RBI between them.

Next up for CUW is a doubleheader at Aurora University on Saturday. First pitch is scheduled for 12 p.m.
