Baseball hosts St. Norbert in nine inning game Thursday

MEQUON, Wis. - Following a doubleheader sweep to open Kapco Park earlier this week, Concordia University Wisconsin's baseball team returns to the diamond on Thursday evening for a nine-inning non-conference contests against St. Norbert College. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.

CUW will host SNC in a single nine-inning contest on Thursday. It scheduled as a doubleheader, but chilly temperatures and blustery winds off Lake Michigan has changed the schedule.

Fans unable to attend the game can listen to Matt Menzl's audio play-by-play broadcast or follow live statistics.

CUW christened its new ballpark on Sunday with a pair of dominating victory over Wisconsin Lutheran College. The Falcons pounded 27 hits and received strong performances from their starting pitchers. They have now won five of their last six games.

Senior Adam Martz (West Bend, Wis.) continues to lead CUW at the plate with a .449 batting average, 22 hits, 12 runs, and 11 RBI. During the sweep on Sunday, Junior Daniel Mueller (West Bend, Wis.) came alive with a 6-for-8 performance, to go along with seven total bases.

On the mound the Falcons have received quality pitching lately up and down its rotation. Senior Matt Parrent (Kewaskum, Wis.) and sophomores Austin Baglow (Walled Lake, Mich.), Andrew Mueller (Horicon, Wis.) and Mathew Scasny (Pewaukee, Wis.) are holding down the starting rotation by going deep into each game.

CUW has lowered its team ERA to 4.75 over the past six games.

SNC (6-6) enters on a three-game losing streak. The Green Knights fell by a combined score of 36-21 at Washington University (Mo.). Prior to the three-game road series, they finished 6-3 during their spring break trip to Auburndale, Fla.

SNC has eight players batting over .300, with Nick Pierre leading the team at .379 (11-of-29). Jordan Powers has scored 16 runs and walked 12 times, while Garrick Fisher has driven in 14 runs.

Travis Mason leads all Green Knight hurlers with a 0.64 ERA in 14.0 innings. Josh Honzik leads the team with 12 strikeouts.
