MEQUON, Wis. - The long-awaited press conference at Concordia University Wisconsin's Environmental Center this morning revealed the name of the new baseball stadium and details of the new Northwoods League, which will begin play this coming June.

The multi-million dollar stadium, still being constructed is named Kapco Park. Also, the team's name - Lakeshore Chinook - and field manager John Vodenlich were announced. Vodenlich is currently the baseball coach at UW-Whitewater.

League play will being the first week of June and continue through early August. The team will be comprised of players from around the country who aspire to play professional baseball.

CUW's baseball team will use Kapco Field for their spring season and the Sports Management students will be involved in much of the day-day operation for the summer league team.

Concordia School of Pharmacy Dean and Mequon Mayor Curt Gielow may have summed it up best. "This is a tremendous step both for this University and for the surrounding communities. We embrace the concept."
