Falcon Baseball skid reaches nine games

MEQUON, Wis. - Concordia Chicago (27-9) showed off two of their top hurlers and flexed their offensive muscle in the process of handing CUW a pair of one-sided defeats Sunday at Kapco Park.

Game One

The first contest was 0-0 for three innings before the visitors broke the ice with a two run fourth that included a pair of infield hits and a Falcon error.

The Cougars got one run in the sixth before breaking the game open with six more tallies over the final two frames.

CUW managed just five hits off Ryan Thorsen (5-2). Falcon sophomore Mathew Scasny (Pewaukee, Wis.) is now 2-3 after allowing five earned runs in 7.2 innings of work.

Game Two

The 9-3 Cougar win in the nightcap extended CUW's losing streak to nine games. No Falcon had more than one hit as Bobby Beelen (6-1) held CUW in check for seven innings to earn the victory. Sophomore Austin Baglow (Walled Lake, Mich.) took the loss for CUW to drop to 3-4 on the season.

Senior David Enters (Milwaukee, Wis.), sophomore Harry Steldt (West Bend, Wis.), and senior Daniel Mueller (West Bend, Wis.) drove in the Falcon runs.

Val Keiper's team is 8-12 in NAC play and 11-21 overall heading into Tuesday's non conference road encounter at Elmhurst.

Wednesday action features the CONCORDIA UNDER THE LIGHTS matchup with Carthage at 6:00pm. Fans are asked to gather by 5:30pm at Kapo Park for the dedication and re-enactment activities.
