Acrobatics and Tumbling posts season-high score at No. 6 Fairmont State

FAIRMONT, W.Va. – The CUW acrobatics and tumbling team posted a season-high score on Friday evening in West Virginia. The Falcons fell to 0-2 on the season with a 272.98-236.72 loss to the No. 6 ranked Fighting Falcons of Fairmont State. The Blue and White improved 17.15 points from Sunday and had season-high scores in all six events. The Blue and White posted six scores on Friday over nine points.

"We had a lot of good improvements at this meet," said head coach Sarah Koenig. "We were very excited to compete against a nationally-ranked team and are ready for our tri-meet on Sunday against Davis & Elkins and West Liberty."

The Falcons opened the day with a score of 32.40 in the compulsory event. CUW had a score of 9.50 in the pyramid heat and 9.40 in the toss heat.

In the acro event, CUW posted a score of 24.55.

The Blue and White improved almost five points from their Sunday performance in the pyramid event with 28.65 points. All three heats scored 9.0 points or more.

The team of freshman Abby Pierce (Antioch, Ill.), senior Jordan Ireland (Bennett, Colo.), senior Jofflyn Zaremba (Winneconne, Wis.), senior Anna Smith (Marengo, Ill.) and sophomore Lindsey Leonhard (Sheboygan, Wis.) notched a score of 9.70 in the open pyramid.

The toss event saw the Falcons record a score of 25.10 points.

CUW finished the tumbling event with a combined score of 42.85 points. Sophomore Madison Schultz (Janesville, Wis.) led the flock with a score of 8.05 in the open pass.

Concordia Wisconsin closed the day with a score of 83.17 in the team event.

The Falcons continue their West Virginia road trip on Sunday with a triangular meet at West Liberty, with Davis & Elkins.
