Acrobatics and Tumbling is excited for 2019 season

MEQUON, Wis. – The CUW acrobatics and tumbling team opens the 2019 season on Sunday afternoon against Adrian College. The Falcons are opening their fifth season as a program and third under coach Koenig.

The Falcons are coming off of a 3-6 campaign in 2018 and look to build upon last season.

After weeks of practicing, there is excitement in the air.

"I am really excited to start competing," said head coach Sarah Koenig. "I'm most excited about competing against some new teams this season and pushing to make our way back to nationals."

CUW returns 11 athletes from the 2018 roster. The Falcons will also have a youthful look with seven freshmen.

"I love the team dynamic this year," said Koenig. "All of our new athletes are very motivated and excited to compete and learn about the sport while our upper-classmen have really encouraged them and have such a dedication to this program."

The CUW roster boasts seven seniors, who come into the season with an abundance of knowledge and experience.

The Falcons will be busy to start the season, facing Adrian, Fairmont State, West Liberty and Davis & Elkins in eight days.

CUW hosts three home events in 2019 against Adrian, Gannon and Arizona Christian.

The Blue and White will close the regular season on the road at East Texas Baptist and at Adrian

The Falcons will face another tough schedule in 2019, including one ranked opponent in the NCATA top-10 in Fairmont State.

Coach Koenig is also excited to reach some new goals this upcoming season.

"Making it back to nationals in at least one event is one of our biggest goals," said Koenig. "We also want to be competing some 'firsts' for the program."
