Acrobatics & Tumbling earns season-opening victory

MEQUON, Wis. – It's easy to see the progress Concordia Wisconsin's Acrobatics & Tumbling program has made now entering its third year of competition and on Saturday afternoon the Falcons earned a 235.640–184.155 victory over Georgetown College in the season-opener for both programs.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- In a season-preview podcast interview with head coach Sarah Koenig, it was stated the Falcons were better and it would be evident in the season opener. Those words were true, as they looked crisp in nearly every event throughout.
- Concordia Wisconsin opened the meet with 31.45 points in the Compulsory Event, with a 9.25 (Pyramid Heat) and 9.35 (Toss Heat) scored to build an early lead. The Tigers accumulated 22.40 points.
- After posting 22.30 points in the Acro Event, the Falcons added 27.35 points in the Pyramid Event before the intermission. They scored well in Heat 1 (Flip) and Heat 3 (Release) of the Pyramid Event with scores of 9.30 and 9.35.
- At the break, the Falcons held an 81.10 – 62.25 advantage.
- Georgetown College, a first-year program, performed well in some heats, but Concordia Wisconsin was more experienced and it showed in the scores.
- The Falcons added 24.55 points in the Toss Event and 43.150 more in the Tumbling Event. During those Events, they posted scores of eight or better four times.
- Concordia Wisconsin had the meet well in hand by the time the Team Event came along, but the Falcons had one of their best performances to complete the meet with 86.84 points.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Falcons 86.84 team score was the third highest in the event in program history.

- Concordia Wisconsin travels to Adrian for a triangular also against Georgetown College on Sunday, February 19 at 11 am CST.
