Koenig promoted to Acrobatics & Tumbling head coach

MEQUON, Wis. – Concordia University Wisconsin Director of Athletics Dr. Rob Barnhill announced that Sarah Koenig has been promoted to head coach of the Acrobatics & Tumbling program.

"I feel very blessed for the opportunity to continue working at such a supportive institution," Koenig stated. "I look forward to the continued growth of the program here at CUW and am beyond excited to see what the team will accomplish this year. They are some of the most dedicated individuals I know and it is an honor to work with each and every one of them. I am very thankful to McKenzie for building the foundation to something so incredible. I wish her the best of luck as she moves on to the next chapter of her life."

Koenig will be elevated to the head coaching position a year after serving as the program's graduate assistant. She helped former head coach McKenzie Wilcox in a variety of aspects; including recruiting, practice planning and event coaching. This past season the Falcons won a pair of events and set a multitude of team records.

"I am very excited to announce that Sarah Koenig will be our next head coach of acrobatics & tumbling," Barnhill said. "She did a tremendous job this past season as our assistant coach and I look forward to seeing her grow and mature as a head coach. Her experience as a high level student-athlete and the lessons she has learned on the job coaching and recruiting have provided her with an excellent foundation that I am sure will lead to success on the mat for our program. Sarah takes over the reigns at a time when expectations for the young program are at an all-time high, as we begin our third season of competition and the bar has been raised."

Koenig graduated from the University of Oregon and helped the program win a National Collegiate Acrobatics & Tumbling Association Championship. She graduated with a degree in General Science from Oregon and is currently pursuing a Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education at CUW.
