Falcons Stomp Blue Demons in Matinee Showdown

MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin ACHA team improved to 13-4-1 in the 2023-24 season, topping the DePaul Blue Demons 10-1 on Friday afternoon in an effort that was highlighted by three-goal performances from two Falcons forwards in senior Ian Malcolmson (Waukesha, Wis.) and junior Garrett Wilderman (Waukesha, Wis.).

Wilderman opened the scoring six minutes into the contest before Malcolmson buried two more first-period goals for the Falcons. The second strike took place on the man-advantage, representing his sixth power-play tally of the season.

Senior Trenton Sherman (Farmington, Minn.) dominated in the early going of the second period for the Falcons, notching two goals in the opening six minutes. DePaul would get a goal back on the power play before the Falcons struck twice more. Wilderman notched his second goal of the game off of a feed from Malcolmson on the power play, and the pair reversed roles just 58 seconds later to grant Malcolmson the hat trick.

Wilderman picked up a hat trick of his own 3:28 into the third period, his second as a Falcon.

Senior Lukas Kraeser (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.) joined the goal brigade in the third period, tallying two goals in the game's final eleven minutes to push the Falcons to the ten-goal mark for the second time in the 2023-24 season.

Krueser's goals marked him as Concordia's fourth multi-goal scorer of the afternoon, the first time that feat was accomplished by the Falcons since October of 2022.

Malcolmson led the Falcons with seven points in the contest, while senior goaltender Ian Robertson (Calgary, Alta.) picked up 35 saves towards a .972 save percentage.

With the win, the Falcons inched even closer to their second-straight NCHL Black title. If the Falcons win or go to overtime tomorrow, they clinch the NCHL Black title.

Concordia will look forward to their next contest on Saturday, December 9 in the second half of the back-to-back with DePaul.
