ACHA Hockey 2019-20 Season Preview

MEQUON, Wis. – The ACHA Men's Hockey season starts this Friday with their home opener against Purdue Northwest. Before the season starts check out this list of five things to know for the upcoming season.

Senior Leadership: Jonathan Grodzki (Tampa Bay, Fla.) finished last season as the team points leader with 52. He is the lone senior forward on the team and looks to make a major impact this year.

New Goalie: Last season's primary goalie Nate Eminger (Green Bay, Wis.) graduated, leaving the starter spot up for grabs. The team has a group of goalies to replace the departed Eminger, including returners senior Brian Johnson (Plainfield, Ill.) and junior Robert Houle (Sun Prairie, Wis.). The Falcons also brought in freshman Mack Willy who looks to take a major role on the team.

Lots of Youth: There are seven freshmen and six sophomores on the team, which makes up the majority of the 20 athletes on the roster. Freshmen such as forward Trenton Sherman and defenseman Logan Hascarl will play a significant role for this team early on, so watch for the young players to grow and develop as the season progresses.

Preseason Promise: The talent of this team has already been made evident in the preseason. The ACHA DII Concordia Wisconsin Falcons defeated the NA3HL Milwaukee Power, marking the first time the club team has defeated a junior team. With this team capable of such a feat, watch for them to make some noise in the regular season.

Tough Conference: The Falcons compete in a difficult conference along with #3 Marian, #12 Aurora, and #24 Marquette. Playing against such strong competition gives teams the chance to rise up to the challenge. It's a long road to the top, and the Falcons are hungry and ambitious with aspirations to win a national championship.

Game one of the 2019-20 season will be held at the Ozaukee Ice Center South Rink this Friday, September 20th, at 7pm.
