ACHA Hockey falls in shootout to Illinois State

MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia University Wisconsin ACHA Hockey team fell 4-3 in overtime to Illinois State on Saturday afternoon. 

THE BASICS
-Final Score: Illinois State 4, Concordia Wisconsin 3
-Location: Ozaukee Ice Center – Mequon, Wisconsin
-Records: Illinois State 10-4, Concordia Wisconsin 5-9

 HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Falcons struck first as Max Schramm (Edwards, Colo.) scored three minutes into the first period. The Redbirds evened the score four minutes later.
-The second period followed a similar pattern, as Benny Serres (Merton, Wis.) scored 17 minutes in and the Redbirds answered less than two minutes later.
-Alec Murano (St. Peters, Mo.) put the Falcons up 39 seconds into the third with his team-leading 17th goal of the season.
-With under five minutes remaining in regulation, the Redbirds evened the score once again. Tied up at 3-3, the game entered overtime.
-After a scoreless overtime, the teams entered a shootout to decide the game. The Redbirds scored on the second of three attempts as the Falcons went scoreless to close out the game at 4-3.
