ACHA Hockey splits series with UW-Oshkosh

MEQUON, Wis. – The Falcons won one of two against the Titans as Concordia Wisconsin's ACHA Hockey team defeated UW-Oshkosh 6-5 on Friday before falling 5-3 on Saturday.

THE BASICS
-Final Score: Concordia Wisconsin 6, UW-Oshkosh 5 | UW-Oshkosh 5, Concordia Wisconsin 3.
-Location: Oshkosh, Wis. | Ozaukee Ice Center – Mequon, Wisconsin
-Records: Concordia Wisconsin 3-7, UW-Oshkosh 3-3-2

HOW IT HAPPENED
-A pair of last-minute goals highlighted the opening game of the series. The Falcons had a 5-4 advantage going into the final minute, and added some insurance as Jonathon Grodzki (Tampa Bay, Fla.) scored with 50.7 on the clock. Concordia Wisconsin would need that goal, as Mike Chavez scored with 19.6 remaining to pull the Titans within one. UW-Oshkosh would not find a last-second miracle, and the Falcons closed out the opening game with a 6-5 win.
-The Falcons could not complete the sweep, as the Titans battled back to win the closing game of the series. Down 4-3 with time running out, the Falcons pulled the goalie to try to send the game to overtime. CUW had no such luck as UW-Oshkosh took advantage of the open net to ice the game, scoring to take the 5-3 win.
-The opening game win was the first road win of the season for the Falcons.

UP NEXT
-The Falcons battle St. Norbert in a two-game series, with the opening game at home on Friday, September 26 at 8:30pm in the South Rink at Ozaukee Ice Center.
