ACHA Hockey stumbles against Illinois

EAST PEORIA, Ill. – Concordia Wisconsin couldn't keep up the momentum from their two-game winning streak as ACHA Men's Hockey fell 5-1 late Friday night and 4-1 on Saturday afternoon to the University of Illinois.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Falcons scored the first goal in the opening game of the series within the first minute of play. Jonathon Grodzki (Tampa Bay, Fla.) got the goal with James Buck (Beaufort, S.C.) assisting. The Falcons' lead was short-lived, as Illinois went on to score five unanswered goals to close out the game.
-Though outscored, the Falcons actually outshot Illinois in the opening game by a count of 43-31.
-Illinois closed out the series with a win on Saturday to sweep the Falcons. Down 2-0 in the second period, Andrew Doepp (New Lenox, Ill.) scored with assistance by Grodzki and Alec Murano to cut Illinois' lead to one. The Falcons were unable to find the net again, and Illinois scored twice more to close out the game.
