ACHA Hockey swept at Illinois State

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Concordia Wisconsin ACHA Men's Hockey team was swept in a two-game series at Illinois State this past weekend. The Falcons fell by an 8-3 score Friday, before dropping a 5-3 contest on Saturday.

- Records: CUW 1-7, 1-5 ACHA DII; Illinois State 6-11

ILLINOIS STATE 8, CUW 3
- The Redbirds were clicking on Friday, scoring three times in each of the first two periods for a 6-1 lead after two. The Falcons skated even with Illinois Skate in the third period, each team scoring two goals.

- Anthony Pickering (Sylvan Lake, Alberta) scored two goals to pace CUW on Friday. Jonathan Grodzki (Tampa Bay, Fla.) added a goal for the Falcons in the setback.

- Robert Houle (Sun Prairie, Wis.) and Brian Johnson (Plainfield, Ill.) each saw action in Friday's game, with Houle going down as the goalie of record. Houle stopped 13 shots, while Johnson relieved him and stopped 16 of the 18 shots he faced.

- CUW fired plenty of shots on goal as Max Johnson made 59 saves for the Redbirds.

ILLINOIS STATE 5, CUW 3
- The Falcons took a 3-1 lead midway through the second period in Saturday's game, but the Redbirds tallied four unanswered scores the rest of the way for the 5-3 final.

- Grodzki and Pickering again accounted for all the CUW goals, this time Grodzki tallying two and Pickering adding a goal of his own.

- Houle finished with 28 saves for the Falcons, allowing four goals as the last Redbirds score came with an empty net. Tyler Arneson made 28 saves for Illinois State.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Pickering has recorded a point in each of the Falcons ACHA games thus far. He has eight goals and five assists in the six league contests.

- The Falcons visit Dakota State at Bottineau for two games next weekend. The first is set for Friday at 7:30 p.m.
