NOTES TO CONSIDER

This evening, the Falcons travel south to Illinois to take on the Eagles of Benedictine in the NACC Women’s Basketball Tournament Quarterfinals. The Falcons finished in a three-way tie for fourth place in the NACC at 11-5 and are the sixth seed due to tiebreakers and are 13-8 on the year. The Eagles are the third seed in the NACC Tournament at 13-4 and 16-9 overall.

The Falcons sank the Sabres in the first round of the tournament with a 51-39 victory. Freshman Lindsey Lonigro led the flock with 12 points. Junior Reagan finished with a career-high 12 rebounds and a point short of a double-double performance with nine points.

The Falcons are one of only two teams to make all 16 NACC Tournaments. CUW is 18-13 all-time in the tournament and won the first title in 2007 and the 2009 title. Benedictine is making its 15th appearance in the tournament and is 14-14 all-time in the tournament with zero titles. The Falcons are 4-1 in the NACC Tournament against the Eagles with victories in 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2018. Benedictine’s lone victory came in 2010.

Tonight will be the 30th meeting between the two schools. Concordia Wisconsin leads the all-time series with a 17-12 record. The Eagles are in their longest winning streak in the series after winning the last three battles.

The Falcons rank in the top-25 in NCAA Division III in six categories. CUW ranks 12th in defensive rebounds per game at 32.4, 13th in fewest fouls at 276, 16th in three-point defense at 22.9, 23rd in field goal defense at 32.1, 24th in fouls per game at 13.1 and 25th in blocks per game at 4.9.
