Steven Schauer is in his eighth year with the Concordia University Wisconsin Athletics Department. He was promoted to Director of Athletic Communications on Feb. 8, 2013 after serving as the assistant sports information director since joining CUW on July 18, 2011.

Schauer has made significant changes since arriving; including three redesigns of CUWFalcons.com, implementing live multi-camera video broadcasts with broadcasters, live statistics for every home game, creating numerous social media accounts and leading a strong graphic design and video production initiative in the Department of Athletic Communications. He also assists and oversees video production and publication output for the entire athletic department. Through his efforts, photography of all athletic programs has improved, as has the coverage of each student-athlete, coach and program as a whole. In addition archiving of information (statistics, photographs, videos, etc.) has been created and updated weekly to ensure the history of Falcon athletics is preserved.

He has led CUW as the host of numerous conference tournaments. His efforts have also grown the student staffing for athletic communications from a handful of dedicated students to 20-30 on a yearly basis. During Schauer's time at CUW, he has spearheaded strong social media initiatives that have seen a substantial increase in fan engagement on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram and Snapchat. Schauer is a member of the College of Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and on two committees (Publications & Digital Design Contest and Membership Recognition Week).

He was previously the public relations intern for the Green Bay Packers during their Super Bowl XLV Championship season.

A native of New Franken, Wis., Schauer graduated from CUW in 2008 with a Bachelor’s Degree in exercise physiology. During his undergraduate years at CUW, he worked with the Sports Information Department in a variety of facets.

After graduating from CUW, he served two years as the Athletic Media Relations Graduate Assistant at the University of Louisiana at Monroe in Monroe, La. While at ULM, he also earned his Master’s Degree in communications. During his two years, Schauer worked closely with the Warhawks NCAA Division I football, volleyball, women’s basketball, softball, cross country and golf programs handling media relations needs.

Following his stint at ULM, he worked for the Packers during their NFL Championship winning season in 2010, as the Public Relations Intern working closely with the players, coaches and media members. His primary responsibilities included the setup and execution of player interviews with local, regional and national media outlets, along with the writing for and editing of numerous team publications.

Also, during the summers of 2007 and 2009 he worked as the official statistician and Media Relations Intern for the Green Bay Bullfrogs, premier member of the Northwoods League. During his time in the Bullfrogs media relations office, he redesigned the team's website and completed an extensive update of the team’s statistical records.

Schauer is married to Lindsay and the two have a son, Martin, and a daughter, Paige, along with a dog, Darcy.
