Falcon women finish second, men third in NAC All-Sports standings

WAUKESHA, Wis. – The Concordia University Wisconsin Women's athletic teams finished second in the All-Sports Awards standings, while the men ranked third, as the Northern Athletics Conference released the final standings Tuesday morning.

The women were edged by Aurora University as CUW finished with an index ranking of 11.22, while the Spartans came in with an 11.61. The Falcons placed just ahead of Benedictine, who had an 11.17.

The conference championship winning Women's Golf team was a big reason for the Falcons success as their league title earned a 16 towards the rating. Women's Basketball won the NAC North Division this season, which helped gain a 14.5 towards the team score, while Cross Country, Soccer, Tennis and Softball all recorded ratings in double figures after strong conference finishes.

In the men's standings, CUW finished behind Aurora, who also won the men's title, as well as runner-up MSOE. AU tallied an 11.50 index, while MSOE had a 10.94 and CUW finished with a 9.83.

The Men's Tennis team won its third straight conference championship as they earned a 15 towards the index, while Football placed second in the NAC, earning a 13. The Men's Soccer and Basketball team's also helped with strong conference finishes, earning a 12 and 10.5, respectively.

Aurora was the third school to win both the men's and women's awards in the seven-year history of the league. AU also accomplished that feat in 2006-2007, while the Falcons took both honors in 2009-2010. This season was the first time since 2006-2007 that CUW did not win at least one of the All-Sports Awards.
