Schipferling named Assistant Director of Athletic Communications

MEQUON, Wis. – Brian Schipferling has been named Assistant Director of Athletic Communications for Concordia University Wisconsin's Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, which was announced by Director of Athletics Dr. Rob Barnhill.

Schipferling will assist in the day-to-day athletic communication efforts of CUW's 23 NCAA Division III athletic programs. He was previously the graduate assistant at Wisconsin Lutheran College for a year-and-a-half. At CUW, Schipferling will work closely with the baseball, softball and track & field programs in the spring.

While at WLC he assisted Sports Information Director Adam Heinzen in writing player biographies, games recaps, season previews and other materials. He served as the statistician for several Warriors home sporting events, while also acting as the public address announcer for soccer, baseball and softball games. He also helped with the production of media guides for football, soccer, volleyball, basketball, baseball and softball.

Schipferling graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point in May 2011 with a Bachelor's Degree in communication. He also received a Minor in political science.

During his time at UW-SP, Schipferling worked in the Sports Information Department for one year. While there, he assisted with a variety of duties, including writing player biographies, game recaps and keeping statistics at several Pointers sporting events.

Schipferling is finishing his Master of Arts in Education program, specializing in leadership and innovation at WLC.

A native of Stevens Point, Wis., Schipferling is the son of Bob and Lynn. He also has one older brother, Eric.
