No. 9 Otto breaks 36-hole scoring record
Andrew Otto had a memorable golfing career over his four years and along the way he finished top-10 in 12 different events and top-5 in six contests. Of the many shining moments he had in his career, one was setting the program's 36-hole scoring record, which he accomplished on September 30.
The senior fired a two-day 144 total (74-70) to place third at the MSOE Invitational at Grand Geneva Resort. The righty carded a 3-over par 74 on the Sunday of the opening round at The Highlands course before responding with a 2-under par 70 on The Brute course. His efforts moved him from an eighth-place tie after the first round into a third-place finish, which was his season-best.
Otto broke the 36-hole scoring record by three strokes that was set almost a year before. His second-round score of 70 was one stroke shy of tying the single-round score of 69, which he also owns a part of. The Kewaskum, Wisconsin native's efforts helped the Falcons finish in second at the tournament with a two-round total of 591, which, as you can guess is also a record. The 591 score shattered the previous record of 607 by 16 strokes that was set a month before.
Otto ended his career with a scoring average of 77.70 over 53 rounds and 30 events. He also owns two of the top three lowest single-season scoring averages.
