2018-19 Stats of the Year

MEQUON, Wis. - The 2018-19 athletics season came to a close in May and it was another outstanding year for the Falcons. The Athletic Communications department looked at some of the top numbers for this past year, recapping the outstanding season for Concordia Wisconsin. 

Acrobatics & Tumbling (10) - In the final meet of the season at Adrian, the Falcons posted a perfect 10.0 score in the open pyramid. The team of Abby Pierce, Jordan Ireland, Jofflyn Zaremba, Anna Smith and Lindsey Leonhard are the first team in program history to record a perfect 10 in the open pyramid.

Baseball (29.1) - Lukas Meerdink had a 29.1 inning stretch in the season in which he did not allow an earned run. In those 29.1 innings, he helped maintain the 0.00 ERA with 39 strikeouts for an average of 12.06 per nine innings.

Men's Basketball (4) - Men’s Basketball captured it’s fourth Concordia Invitational Tournament title in program history on January 26 with an 84-62 victory over Concordia Ann Arbor. Just a day prior they defeated Concordia Nebraska 86-70. Jordan Johnson was named CIT MVP after averaging 23 points and 9.5 rebounds.

Women's Basketball (204) - Women’s Basketball shattered the program record for 3-pointers made in a season after draining 204 (7.3 per game). They also set the program’s season record by making their long balls at a 38.3 percent success rate. Clara Chambers led the team with 56 triples.

Men's Cross Country (24:48.71) - Freshman Wesley Schieck recorded a time of 24:48.71 to earn the titles of NACC Runner of the Year and NACC Freshman of the Year.

Women's Cross Country (31) - Women’s Cross Country finished in first place at the UW-Oshkosh Kollege Town Sports Pre-National Invitational with 31 points. Mackenzie Dorth won with a time of 25:46.

Field Hockey (36) - Megan McPike smashed the school record with 36 points on the season. McPike scored 17 goals and added two assists. 

Football (22.5) - Football allowed just 22.5 points per game, which was the second-lowest total in the Greg Etter-era. The Falcons limited the opposition to five opponents to 20 or fewer points and had recorded a 17-0 shutout against Lakeland, which was the first shutout since the 2012 season.

Men's Golf (290) - Men’s Golf shattered the school record for low 18-hole team score by eight strokes after posting a 290 score at the Carthage Spring Invitational. During this record-setting round, the four scores that counted were all 76 or lower and Andrew Otto’s E-par round of 70 was one stroke off tying the individual low round in program history.

Women's Golf (2) - Amy Carpenter and Kayla Haen earned All-Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference honors after finishing ninth and 10th, respectively, at the NACC Tournament. Carpenter shot a 279 and Haen fired a 283 score during the 54-hole event.

Men's Hockey (22.9) - Men’s Hockey broke the school record with a 22.9 power play percentage. The Falcons scored 22 power-play goals on the season.

Women's Hockey (640) - Christina Pattengale shattered the previous single-season saves record of 580 by recording 640 saves on the season.

ACHA Men's Hockey (6) - The ACHA Hockey team had a six-game winning streak in the final eight games of the season, going 6-1-1 to close out the season.

Men's Lacrosse (15) - Men’s Lacrosse won a program record 15 victories during the 2019 campaign, which featured outright possession of the Midwest Lacrosse Conference regular season title and the MLC Tournament Championship. Their tournament title was the first in program history, which led to a trip to the NCAA Tournament bid and they led No. 8 Denison 2-0 after four minutes of play. 

Women's Lacrosse (277) - Lauren Paquin set the Women’s Lacrosse career record for points and finished with 277 (218 goals, 59 assists) during her four-year career. She scored 50 or more goals in three of her seasons and ended her career with numerous other records.

Shooting (4) - Shooting took home four first-place trophies at the Ohio Fall Regional. The combination of Andrew Handrich, Nicholas Jorgensen, Grant Steinke, Michael Kral, Luke Larson, Mikaela Leach and Billy Scheffki won the Optics Rifle, Iron Rifle, Pistol Caliber Carbine and Iron Rifle Collegiate competitions.

Men's Soccer - (415:14) Men’s Soccer closed the regular season not allowing a goal in the final four matches with shutout victories over MSOE, Concordia Chicago, Rockford and Wisconsin Lutheran. The shutout streak lasted over 415 minutes. 

Women's Soccer (10) - Crosbie Kowalski had the second-most points in a game in program history with 10 against Alverno. She scored four goals and two assists.

Softball (1) - Softball won their first-ever NACC Regular Season title in 2019. The Falcons finished with a record of 19-3.

Men's Tennis (7) - Tim Peters and Gabe Binversie were tied for first in the conference with Franklin Zhong of IIT for the most singles wins without recording a loss at seven.

Women's Tennis (73) - Bailey Kelly broke the NACC record for career singles victories with 73. She broke the record in April against St. Norbert. She finished with 75 victories.

Men's Track & Field (4) - Men’s Track & Field captured four individual NACC titles in 2019. At the Indoor Championships, Grant Johnson and Craig Reese earned NACC titles in the pole vault and 5000-meter run respectively. Outdoor, Grant Johnson claimed the NACC crown with a school record mark of 4.30 meters at pole vault. Samual Spranger also claimed an NACC title in the 400-meter dash at 48.32.

Women's Track & Field (5) - Five school records fell in 2019. Three indoor school records fell in 2019, senior Irene Bolis broke the record in the 55-meter hurdles at 8.70 and the 60-meter hurdles at 9.59. Megan Curran also broke the weight throw record at 16.33 meters. Outdoors, Irene Bolis broke the school record for the 100-meter hurdles at 15.98. The team of Jennifer Miller, Megan Sprinkman, Ndeye Thiam and Irene Bolis broke the school record in the 4x100 relay at 49.83.

Triathlon (1:13.38) - Aimee Uebersetzig posted the fastest time of the year at the NCAA East Regional Qualifier at 1:13.38.

Men's Volleyball (9) - Men’s Volleyball continues to make strides and during its second year, they won nine matches, with five of those coming by way of a sweep. The Falcons also won six of those nine matches on their home court.

Women's Volleyball (1,429) - Women’s Volleyball smashed 1,429 kills during the season, which was the second most ever in a season in program history. They smashed 60 or more kills three times and had 66 against UW-Stout to tie the second most ever in a match in program history.

Wrestling (11) - Merrick O’Donnell won 11 of his 15 matches during the year by fall. He won eight of those falls during the opening period and his fastest of the season came in 49 seconds at the CUW Open.
