Guendel lands 2017-18 Male Career Achievement Award

MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia University Wisconsin Athletic Department has announced that Brad Guendel of the Men’s Tennis program has been named the 2017-18 Male Career Achievement Award winner.

The department released its top stories of the year over the past few weeks and announced its four major awards this week. On Monday, Kaily (Moegenburg) Erdman was named the Female Athlete of the Year, while Braydon Barker was honored as the Male Athlete of the Year Tuesday. Wednesday it was announced that Allison Kurek was chosen as the Female Career Achievement Award winner.

Guendel (Greendale, Wis.) had an outstanding career for the Men’s Tennis program which included being honored as an All-NACC Doubles Player all four seasons. In addition, he was an All-NACC Singles selection during his senior season, as well as being named the NACC Freshman of the Year in 2015.

The last two seasons, Guendel played a big role in the Falcons winning back-to-back NACC Championships. CUW posted a combined 15-1 record in NACC play over the last two seasons, and won the NACC Tournament both seasons, advancing to the NCAA Tournament. At this year’s NCAA Tournament Guendel and doubles partner Nolan Rademacher helped make NACC history, winning their No. 1 doubles match for the first NACC point in tennis in the NCAA Tournament.

Guendel finished his singles career with a 54-34 record, including identical 16-7 marks over his final two seasons. He added a 59-37 record in doubles play, including winning 19 matches during the 2016-17 season. Guendel played most of his doubles matches throughout his career at the No. 1 position.

During Guendel’s time with the Falcons, CUW posted a 28-4 record in NACC play. The Falcons also won a program-best 20 matches during the 2017 season, finishing the year with a 20-7 record.
