Erdman named 2017-18 Female Athlete of the Year

MEQUON, Wis. – Concordia Wisconsin’s Athletic Department has announced that Kaily (Moegenburg) Erdman of the Women’s Volleyball program has been named the 2017-18 Female Athlete of the Year.

The CUW Athletic Department released its top stories of the year over the past few weeks and this week will announce its four major award winners from the 2017-18 season. On Tuesday, the Falcons will announce the Male Athlete of the Year, while on Wednesday and Thursday the two Career Achievement Award recipients will be announced.

Erdman culminated her career with the best season of our four years as a Falcon, which included American Volleyball Coaches Association All-America Honorable Mention status. She guided the program to another successful year, winning the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference regular season and tournament titles.

During the season, the Falcons didn’t lose a conference match and of the 11 played they eight ended in a sweep. The 6-foot outside hitter ended her career ranked second all-time with 108 service aces, fourth with 996 kills, sixth with 225 block assists and eighth with 260 total blocks.

It wasn’t uncommon to see her quietly go about her business and record a double-double, which she did nine times during the season. In one of the last matches of her career, Erdman tallied a career-high 26 kills to go along with 20 digs, two block assists and a service ace during an upset 3-2 win at No. 9 UW-Whitewater.

The AVCA All-Midwest Region and NACC Player of the Year honoree was top-10 in the league for kills and service aces. Her efforts helped the program achieve new heights, with a program record 28 victories.
