2015-16 Stories of the Year (No. 1): Larson a two-time All-American

MEQUON, Wis. – The 2015-16 athletic year saw more memorable moments from Concordia University Wisconsin athletic teams. As in years past, the Department of Athletic Communications tries to sort through all the great moments and give you, the fans, the top stories from the past athletic year.

The list of stories was compiled by the Department of Athletic Communications and, like all lists, is subject to debate. The top stories have been revealed over the past six weeks, with a story released each Tuesday (exception: none on July 5).

No. 1

Larson earns All-American status in Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field

From the moment junior transfer Nicole Larson started competing for the Concordia University Wisconsin Women's Track & Field team, she started rewriting the program's record books. She would continue to break her own records throughout the year, and also landed a pair of All-American honors, which is the 2015-16 CUWFalcons.com Story of the Year.

Larson's season started in December at the Illinois Wesleyan First Chance Meet. There she would clear 3.5 meters, which was good enough for the CUW and NACC record. She would continue to top that record throughout the season and in the process, qualified herself for the 2016 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships.

At the national meet, she would go on to clear 3.80 meters, becoming the school's first All-American in Track & Field since the 2010 season (Brock Solveson). She finished fifth at the Indoor Championships, and won every other meet she competed in prior to the national meet.

With high expectations heading into the outdoor season, Larson once again delivered. She once again rewrote the school and conference record books in her first meet, and would go on to capture a NACC Championships, as well as several other meet titles en route to an appearance at the national outdoor meet.

At the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships, the junior tied her top height from the outdoor season, clearing 3.85 meters. That was good for a tie for seventh place, landing her All-American honors once again.

It was a fine junior season for Nicole Larson, one that saw her become a two-time All-American. Those honors not only landed her the 2015-16 CUW Female Athlete of the Year honors, but also made for the top story from Falcons athletics from another successful year.
