Reiter honored with Female Career Achievement Award

MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia University Wisconsin Athletic Department has announced that Sammi Reiter, a member of both the Women's Lacrosse and Women's Hockey programs, has earned the 2014-15 Female Career Achievement Award.

CUWFalcons.com will be releasing the four major awards from the 2014-15 season over the next four weeks. Each Thursday an award will be announced, with the Male Career Achievement Award next week. The Male Athlete of the Year will be announced the following Thursday (July 2), while the Female Athlete of the Year will be revealed on July 9. The awards are selected by a small committee of coaches and athletic department personnel.

Reiter (Stillwater, Minn.) finished off an impressive career on both the field and rink this past season. She ends her stint with the Falcons Lacrosse program as the career leader in points, goals, game winning goals, shots, shots on goal and free-position goals.

She was a three-time All-Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference selection, including being named the 2014 MWLC Player of the Year. Reiter holds five major single-season records at CUW and also has four individual game records.

The highlight of Reiter's career certainly came this past spring when she helped lead the Falcons, a team who won just three games her freshman season, to a MWLC title and a spot in the NCAA Division III Tournament. Reiter did all this in 2015, while playing the entire season on a torn ACL, an injury she suffered just days into her senior season in hockey.

Reiter earned the Career Achievement Award after being named the Female Athlete of the Year last season. She also has 2012 MWLC Newcomer of the Year on her impressive list of accomplishments during her four years with the lacrosse program.

On the rink, Reiter served as a team captain her junior year, and played a key role in helping the Falcons to an appearance in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association Tournament Title game this past season. To get to the championship game, CUW defeated the No. 4 ranked team in the nation, Adrian College.

Reiter finished her hockey career ranked seventh in program history in goals scored, fourth in power play goals and tied for first in shorthanded goals.
