Damaschke named CUW Male Athlete of the Year

MEQUON, Wis. – You can add one final award to the impressive list of accomplishments senior Austin Damaschke has compiled as a student-athlete at Concordia University Wisconsin. Damaschke has been named the 2014-15 CUW Male Athlete of the Year for his accomplishments on the gridiron this past season.

CUWFalcons.com is in the process of releasing each of its four major awards from the 2014-15 season. Two weeks ago, Sammi Reiter (Women's Lacrosse, Women's Hockey) was honored with the Female Career Achievement Award, while last week Damaschke and Sean Ambrocio (Wrestling) were selected as Co-Male Career Achievement Award recipients. The final award, the Female Athlete of the Year, will be announced next Thursday.

A senior quarterback from Bristol, Wis., Damaschke once again posted impressive numbers for the Falcons in 2014-15. This past season he led all of Division III in total offensive yards per game at 378.3, the first time he won a national statistics award.

Damaschke was once again honored by the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference, being named Co-Offensive Player of the Year after posting his numbers last season. For the year, he tossed for 2,835 yards and 20 touchdowns in nine games, while completing 238 passes. He once again proved to be a dual-threat quarterback after rushing for 570 yards and seven touchdowns on 122 carries.

Damaschke also picked up accolades for his work in the classroom this past season as he was named a National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete, one of just 17 players in the entire country across all divisions to earn that honor. He was also one of just two Division III players who earned the Scholar-Athlete status.

He wrapped up his career as the Falcons and NACC's leader in several stat categories, breaking several game and season records along the way as well. This was the second straight season Damaschke has been named the Male Athlete of the Year, sharing the honors with wrestler Sean Ambrocio last season.
