2014-15 statistics of the year, by the numbers

Baseball (11) – Freshman Nathan Thyssen (Appleton, Wis.) broke the team single season record for most triples in a season with 11, which ranked number one in the in the entire country for NCAA Division III. Thyssen began the season with three triples in two days. The outfielder tied the previous record of seven only 16 days into his collegiate career. He then broke the record six games later in an 8-7 win over Benedictine.

Men's Basketball (6) – Two times during the 2014-15 season, the Men's Basketball team put on an impressive six-game winning streak. The first six-game winning streak began just after the New Year by winning three of those games on the road. The second six-game winning streak came at the end of the season at just the right time. The Falcons won the last three games of the regular season and finished off the winning streak by winning the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Tournament title, which gave them an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament.

Women's Basketball (200) –Women's Basketball head coach, Stacy Brunner-Jones, recorded her 200th career win in a 62-54 victory over Lakeland at home on February 3. The win was not only Brunner-Jones 200th win, but the win also clinched a spot in the NACC Tournament. Brunner-Jones is currently the winningest coach in program history.

Men's Cross Country (5) - You always want to run your best times at the end of the season and the Men's Cross Country team certainly did that in the fall of 2014. CUW had five of seven runners post PRs (personal records) at the NACC Championship Meet. Senior Robert Meilbeck (Winthrop Harbor, Ill.) placed 11th at the event after running a PR of 26:29.5. Junior Stephen Bernau (Courtland, Minn.), senior Christopher Biesboer (Elmhurst, Ill.), junior Adam Fell (Mundelein, Ill.), and junior Johann Hinck (Cedarburg, Wis.) all ran PRs at the event.

Women's Cross Country (6) – Out of the six meets that the Women's Cross Country team competed in this past season, freshman Bethany Coop (Mora, Minn.) was the first Falcon to cross the finish line in all six of those meets. Coop recorded her PR of 23:05.70 at the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional on November 15. She finished five of the six races under 24 minutes. Coop was named the NACC Freshman of the Year and was named to the All-NACC First Team in her freshman campaign.

Football (17) – Quarterback Austin Damaschke (Bristol, Wis.) will probably go down as one of the best players to wear a Falcon uniform. Throughout his highly impressive career, Damaschke set 17 game, season and career records. He finished his career with 821 pass completions, 9,963 passing yards, 85 passing touchdowns and 11,691 total offensive yards.

Men's Golf (958) – 958 team strokes over the three-round NACC Championship was the Men's Golf Team score that allowed them to tie for first place with Wisconsin Lutheran College. The Falcons would eventually lose in a one-hole playoff, but it was the Falcons best finish after finishing eighth or worse in the previous four years.

Women's Golf (2) – CUW fell short of winning its third-straight NACC Championship by two shots, but junior Nina Puch (Des Plaines, Ill.) earned her second-straight medalist honor and was named the NACC Player of the Year for the second time. During the three-day tournament, Puch ended with a 249 total giving her a 10-stroke victory in the NACC Tournament.

Men's Hockey (32) – Men's Hockey was back in action the day after Thanksgiving, traveling to Bethel for a two-game series and chance to retain the Thanksgiving Cup. CUW won the first game of the series 6-5 thanks to two goals from Anthony Pickering, but game two was the deciding factor. Junior goalie Domingo Torrenueva (Oshawa, Ontario) started his first game of the season and recorded 32 saves to help the Falcons to a 3-1 win and their second straight Thanksgiving Cup.

Women's Hockey (17) – Senior Emily Heckendorf (Merrill, Wis.) scored a record setting 17 goals in the Falcons incredible season breaking the previous record of 13 that was set in the 2010-11 season. Heckendorf was a huge piece to the Falcons successful season, helping lead her team to a win over Adrian – the No. 4 team in the country – and earn a spot in the NCHA Slaat Cup Finals.

Men's Lacrosse (55.4) – You always want to capitalize on your opponents mistakes and the Falcons capitalized 55.4 percent of the time when they had a man-up advantage, which was the best percentage in all of NCAA Division III. The Falcons scored on 31-of-56 man-up opportunities.

Women's Lacrosse (13) – The Women's Lacrosse team had a season to remember, winning a program-record 13 games, but also capturing the MWLC regular season title with perfect 7-0 record. They also won the MWLC Tournament Championship, which allowed them to advance to the NCAA Division III Tournament.

Men's Soccer (4) – Four players were voted to 2014 Wisconsin All-State teams. Leading the way was junior Keegan Van Dusseldorp (Burlington, Wis.) who was selected to all-state first team. Seniors Paul Stuebs (Neenah, Wis.) and David Kulberg (Maple Grove, Minn.) were named to second team and senior Diego Campos (Milwaukee, Wis.) was named all-state honorable mention, his third All-State selection.

Women's Soccer (3) – Three Falcons had a standout year that led to their selection on the NSCAA All-Region Team. Junior Carley Pfanerstill (Grafton, Wis.) became the first Falcon ever to be awarded as a NSCAA First Team All-Region selection. Junior Brittany Klumpp (Rubicon, Wis.) was named All-Region Second Team after she led the Falcons in goals with 18. Senior Ashley Apazeller (Jackson, Wis.) was named to All-Region Third Team, which was the third time she was named to an All-Region Team.

Softball (1) – Playing at home is always an advantage and the Softball team took full advantage of their home field only losing one game at home in the 2015 season, while accumulating 13 wins at home. It has been 13 years since the Softball team had one or fewer losses at home.

Men's Tennis (52.6%) – Steven Fritz, the lone senior on the Men's Tennis team, finished his career with a 52.6 winning percentage in singles matches and had 20 career singles victories. Fritz's career 52.6 winning percentage is good for sixth all-time in career winning percentage. He also posted 24 wins in his career in doubles matches, which is 10th in program history.

Women's Tennis (69) – Senior Emily McCormick (Waukesha, Wis.) finished her career with 69 total wins in single and doubles matches combined. She had 32 career singles wins, which places her fourth all-time in program history and her 37 career doubles wins is third all-time.

Men's Track & Field (68'2.5") – 68 feet and 2.5 inches is the total distance combined that sophomore jumper Tyler White had in the long jump and triple jump at the NACC Championship Meet. In the long jump, White jumped 22 feet and 4.5 inches and in the triple jump he flew 45 feet and 8 inches. Both distances were good for first place in each event. White was named NACC Co-Field Athlete of the Meet.

Women's Track & Field (44.96) – Senior thrower Andrea Kassees (Waukesha, Wis.) set and broke the school's throwing record three times throughout the season. She broke the record on her second throw at the Dr. Keeler Invitational (recording 44.06 meters), but would go on to shatter the mark with a toss of 44.96 meters in her final attempt of three throws.

Volleyball (8) – Freshman Ashley Jehlicka (Salem, Wis.) joined an elite group at CUW, as she recorded an outstanding eight triple-doubles this past season. She is just one of three players to record multiple triple-doubles in a career – Carley Valentine had three and Annie Mosser recorded two – dating back to 2007. The rookie was first on the team with 276 kills, a .276 attack percentage and 469 assists. She was also third with 362 digs and 57 total blocks, and fourth 22 service aces.

Wrestling (174) – It was quite a season for sophomore wrestler Mason Mergener (Crivitz, Wis.), as he made his first ever appearance at the NCAA Division III Championship. Mergener went 3-1 in the Midwest Regionals, which allowed him to advance to the National Tournament.
