MEQUON, Wis. –
Concordia University Wisconsin recognized six athletic programs for their athletic excellence over the past year in its Concordia Center for Environmental Stewardship building on Sunday evening with a formal Dinner of Champions event.

The event, hosted by President Rev. Dr. Patrick T. Ferry and his wife Dr. Tammy Ferry, gave Falcon student-athletes and teams a night to reflect on their hard work, dedication and commitment to being the best in their respective sport. It was a special night as sports broadcasting personality Matt Menzl emcee' d the event and former men's basketball student-athlete Mitchell Schneider returned as the special guest speaker.

Along with Director of Athletics Dr. Rob Barnhill and President Ferry, the overwhelming theme of the evening was 'championships are difficult to win'. While it is exciting to raise a trophy with teammates, coaches and support staff high into the air with joy, the opportunity to embrace every moment along the way with those that have helped each program must be done.

Recognized at the event were men's basketball (2011-12 NAC North Division title), men's tennis (2012 NAC regular and tournament titles), men's track & field (2012 NAC indoor and outdoor titles), women's golf (2012 NAC title), women's basketball (2012-13 NAC North Division title) and wrestling (2012-13 NWA title).

The experiences each student-athlete, coach and support staff member gains along with way won't be forgotten. "Don't take it for granted. The pre-season workouts, memories during the season and the moments with your teammates and coaches are something you will never forget," Schneider said during his speech to a room of nearly 100.
